Ko Awatea Centre Information

Times of operation

  • Monday – Friday: 7am-5:30pm; Rooms must be vacated by 5:30pm sharp, unless otherwise agreed.
  • After-hours bookings, including evenings and weekends are available to external bookings only* by arrangement. Additional charges will apply.
  • For external bookings, use of meeting rooms will be charged by half day, or full day only.

Cancellations

You can now cancel any room bookings through your online booking account, however should you no longer require your meeting room on the day of, notification must be submitted in writing to koawateabookings.generic@middlemore.co.nz, giving as much notice as possible.

For external bookings, as payment for your booking is required one week in advance of your meeting date, cancellations made after this date will not be refunded. 

Equipment and facilities available:

  • Screens and whiteboards available in all rooms
  • Projectors
  • Catering
  • PC workstations (Windows 10)
  • Speakers
  • Control panel to control AV inputs
  • Wireless access
  • AV connectors for laptops
  • Access to kitchen facilities on ground floor with microwaves, hot and cold filtered water.
  • Access to complimentary Wi-Fi and computer terminals in the Ko Awatea open space.
  • Coin operated lockers.
  • Photocopying and scanning facilities are available onsite.

Any lost/non-returned AV equipment, or for damaged equipment through negligence, the Ko Awatea Centre Management Office reserve the right to on charge the cost of replacement, at a minimum charge of $200.

Ko Awatea Centre available services

For external bookings only, the onsite management team are available to assist with room set up and breakdown support. Cleaning, security and signage costs may apply based on the event specification.

Alcohol

As the Ko Awatea Centre is situated within the hospital, it operates a strict no-alcohol policy. Please do not bring any alcohol into the building. 

Parking at Middlemore Hospital

There are limited carparks at Middlemore Hospital. Please consider using public transport.

Parking is charged by the hour at Middlemore Hospital. If driving, please car share where possible.

The closest carpark to the Ko Awatea Centre is Carpark 4.

The bus stop and train station are located outside the Galbraith Building entrance of the hospital, which is on Hospital Road. Once in the main entrance, follow the Rainbow Corridor to the Ko Awatea Centre, using the wayfinding boards for directions.

Counties Manukau Health (CM Health) is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all employees, visitors, patients and contractors. To ensure your safety, and that of others, within the Ko Awatea Centre, please ensure the following safety rules are always observed and adhered to.

General information 

The Ko Awatea Centre is located on our Middlemore Hospital campus. The Ko Awatea Centre is an education facility that is open to all, and as such all visitors are asked to follow CM Health’s strict requirements to support the safety and security of all patients, personnel and their information. 

Please ensure you follow all instructions and directions provided to you by the Ko Awatea Centre Management team, ensuring that all attendees are aware of these instructions. 

General safety 

Please ensure you follow all instructions and directions provided to you by the Ko Awatea Centre Management team, ensuring that all attendees are aware of these instructions. Signage and workplace specific instructions will be pointed out to you on arrival.

Hazard identification 

If you observe an unsafe act or hazard, please report the issue immediately to the Ko Awatea Centre Management Office. 

Incident reporting 

In the event that you are involved in, or observe, an incident, provide full details to the Ko Awatea Centre Management team immediately. 

Medical emergency

In the event of a medical emergency, please advise the Ko Awatea Centre Management team immediately. If no assistance is available, locate the nearest internal telephone and dial 777 providing as much detail as possible.

Fire 

If you see a fire:

  1. Report the fire immediately to emergency services:
    • Dial 777 from the nearest internal telephone; or
    • Dial 111 from a personal mobile; or
    • Dial 5777 from a CM Health allocated mobile 
  2. Activate the nearest fire alarm – push and break the cover to activate.
  3. Evacuate the building via your nearest fire exit and assemble at the identified assembly point.

If you hear the fire alarm:

  1. Evacuate the building immediately via your nearest fire exit and assemble at the identified assembly point. Push to break the fire alarm cover (Manual Call Point) to release the fire door.
  2. Stay with your colleagues (unless otherwise informed) and follow all Fire Warden instructions.
  3. Please advise a Fire Warden of any colleagues that are missing.

Smoking

CM Health has a strict no smoking policy. Smoking is not permitted in any area of the facility or grounds. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in you being escorted from the site.
